According to Appledefects.com the screens start blinking occasionally and sometimes just switch themselves off. The Zen-like screen remains dormant for several minutes and restarting or plugging in and out doesn't help.
Apple care suggested to one punter that they reset the PRAM, although quite why moving the baby carrier might help, they didn't say. As would be expected, the flickering was reported back within 24 hours.
Apple's Discussion Boards boards have not been much use either in spite having more than 100 entries under the search 'screen flicker'. One user observed that the problem seemed to be when he had a high CPU load.
Apple has responded with its usual speed and efficiency to the problem. It has apparently locked threads on the topic perhaps in the hope that it will go away.
To be fair to the MacBook, Apple's MacinTouch also has a few problems with random screen flicker as do MacBook Pros, the PowerBook 17?, the MacBook Pro after the 10.4.7 update and the newest MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo.
We suspect that Apple will deny there is a problem for a few weeks before announcing that a small number of users have been affected and issuing a patch. µ
