Nokia powered by ATI design to take time

Computex 2006 Twelve to eighteen months
Thu Jun 08 2006, 06:45
WE LEARNED that it will take quite some time until we see the first Nokia phone powered by an ATI chip. Usually the handheld design takes between twelve and eighteen months and it looks like we might have to wait till some time in 2007 to see the first Nokia with ATI graphic/multimedia core.

You have to bear in mind that Nokia did started dealing with ATI / Bitboys much earlier than it was officially announced, so we might actually see some phones earlier. We can confirm that this is the stuff that is about to take off and at this time ATI has Power VR and some other smaller players to compete for the multimedia / 3D chip for handhelds dominancy. Nvidia is still behind but catch up fast with its Goforce stuff.

We know that ATI is already working on a developer's kit for Nokia and that stuff is going quite well.
