A GERMAN FIRM is being sued by Apple because it uses the word spod. Apple, according to Silicon.com, claims that Spodradio, because it includes the word pod, is in breach of its trademark.

A spod is British slang for an especially irritating kind of geek, according to this page. It also has a similar sound to spud, which is a British word for the potato. Spuds are not found in pods, that's peas that are podded up.

Spodradio lets people download podcasts to Nokia mobiles, and Silicon.com reports that Liquid Air Tab, which owns Spodradio, will face Apple down in court.
