Cyberpervs hijack message boards

Child porn offensive
Tuesday, 12 June 2007, 15:14
INSECURITY FELLOWS AT Sophos are warning web hosts that it's probably worthwhile to screen message board content after a surge of cyberperverts have taken over a plethora of boards to promote child porn.

Most of the pages affected are being hosted on fully legitimate websites according to Sophos, while one of the sites is designed for children. The posts themselves are vulgar, says Sophos, and have hidden links to child porn sites.

Fraser Howard, top dog for virus researching at Sophos, says that any website can fall victim to one of these attacks regardless of content. "Every web host must ensure that all areas of their site are fully protected and that all user input is carefully screened before it is posted on the site," said Howard.

The offending message boards have been sent to the Internet Watch Foundation, a group which targets illegal content online. ยต
