AMD flies on Dell speculation

Chip shares rise, apart from Intel

SHARES IN AMD were up by $1.29 to stand at $23.86 as speculation mounted that Dell will announce further design wins for its microprocessors soon.

Dell (tick: DELL) continued its climb after NASDAQ opened - it reports its quarterly earnings after the bourse closes today.

Its rival, Hewlett Packard (tick: HPQ) was also up by $1.68 after it turned in good earnings put down to CEO Mark Hurd's ability to trim costs.

Intel (tick: INTC) however, saw its shares somewhat decline, bucking a chip tech trend which also saw Nvidia (tick: NVDA) share prices continue to rise, along with shares of ATI (tick: ATYT). µ
