AMD says the 2100+ is "designed to be compatible with Microsoft Windows and multiple Linux operating systems", which is handy, we reckon.
AMD marketer, Ed Ellett, released a statement in which he claims: "the AMD Athlon MP processor 2100+, with AMD's Socket A interface and the AMD-760MPX chipset, gives IT managers the toolset they need to run their networks easily and efficiently."
The chipmaker says the Socket A processor interface is an important component in AMD's support for the commercial market, because, they say, "it provides the long-term stability and compatibility of a single platform, which can help lower total cost of ownership by enabling consistency across the infrastructure and decreasing platform turnover".
The company also pushes its AMD-760 MPX chipset, which, it says, will feature on motherboards from "a variety of manufacturers" worldwide.
The AMD Athlon MP processor 2100+ is priced at $262 in 1,000-unit quantities.
