PC Perspective updates its Newegg sponsored Hardware Leaderboard. As a reminder, there are four systems in the leader board - Dream, High End, Midrange and Budget. It is always a good thing to compare your system against the appropriate system to see whether you've got the right system for your money.
Phoronix tests the PC Partner RC410MS7-A82C motherboard. It is based on the ATI Radeon Xpress 200 and as you might guess from the manufacturer's name, PC partner is an OE Manufacturer which happen to love ATI's solution. The mobo itself is a socket LGA775 solution, with integrated X300 graphics core, 5.1 audio support, a couple of expansion slot, LAN, Integrated TV Encoding, and a mATX format that will please HTPC manufacturers. Unfortunately, it also appears that they have stopped selling the mobos by the time the test was completed.
It is in German, from Technic 3D. The item on review is the Sapphire Pure Innovision PI-A9RX480 motherboard. It is white and red and would probably be inside Father Christmas's PC. Comes with ATI Radeon Xpress 200 and is Crossfire Compatible. Onboard sound is HD compatible Realtek ALC 880, SATA 2 compatibility and GbE from Marvell. Good overclocking performance, a tad expensive and some layout problem marred an overall positive picture.
Driverheaven brings the Antec Neo HE 550W to our column. Antec are one of the best known PSU manufacturers out there and their PSUs are regularly well featured in reviews all over the world. DH's review is as usual illustrated by beautiful, high resolution images that makes the Antec PSU even more attractive. They powered an overclocked A64, a 12v water cooling kit, several HDDs and optical units and no complaints. No adjustable voltage pots, but it is exceptionally efficient and silent.
One more motherboard review, this time, Overclockers Online checks the Foxconn NF4SLI7AA-8EKRS2 motherboard which is aimed at the LGA775 market. Notice how there is more and more Crossfire and SLI motherboard on the market?? You get the usual high end, bland kind of specs and features, you find on those boards. Nothing exciting. It is much more overclockable than Intel chipsets thouhg and seems to be more overclockable as well.
