The team headed by Terry "Catalyst" Makedon, delivered the June version right on time, after gruelling work to get the WHQL certification on time for release during June. Getting WHQL certification is a long process.
The guys'n'girls did not go to sleep after release of 7.5, and the release notes for 7.6 tell the tale of dozens of errors being fixed and even more important, a lot of performance improvements. The driver is based on Radeon display driver version 8.383, or a member of "magical" 8.38 family that was supposed to be available at launch time.
As normally happens AMD remained faithful to its approach of real unified drivers, supporting cards from Radeon 9700 era onwards, with full support for 2400/2600 cards. We'll re-test the 2400/2600 using these drivers and our first inqpression could actually change, since it was less-than-stellar for HD2600. Anyways, if you own an ATI Radeon based card, use our complementary L'INQ µ
