HP goes cuckoo making elephant dung, toner cartridge clocks

Pachyderm madness

YOU HEAR THE STRANGEST conversations in Soho, at the heart of London W1.

Yesterday, for example, we were minding our own business having a large espresso coffee, when a man of a certain age waltzed into Cafe Nero with his younger companion.

Sat at the next table I couldn't help but overhear the conversation.

This chap had apparently just had lunch with someone from HP who told him the most extraordinary tale.

As part of its campaign to green the planet, Hewlett Packard apparently ships used toner cartridges to South Africa where they are mixed with elephant dung to make, of all things, cases for clocks.

Unfortunately, the chap didn't say how these clocks are sold or otherwise distributed, but apparently they are labelled with the HP Invent logo.

Well I'll be pachydermed.... µ
