PC Tools doles out free PC tools

Safety first

THE GUYS BEHIND SPYWARE DOCTOR at PC Tools are planning to release free versions of its security software PC Tools Firewall Plus and PC Tools AntiVirus in a bid to, well, release some free software.

The move is to help out the poor little pirates that download illicit copies of the company's programs onto their PCs only to find that they are loaded with new viruses and spyware, according to vice president Michael Greene. "We want to help consumers begin the new year with added confidence that their security needs are met when they surf the internet."

In a shock statement, vice president of PC Tools Michael Greene strongly recommends that interweb users use the free PC Tools Firewall Plus and PC Tools AntiVirus in conjunction with PC Tools Spyware Doctor to make sure that systems are absolutely, positively safe.

It's a good combination of programs for the lazy Computeer, says Greene: The protection is configured by default, "for those who simply want to install it and forget it." Just like you may do with the latest Microsoft Office, I say, as I type this in Wordpad.

Here's the PC Tools website. µ
