R600 looking shaky for late February launch

CES 007 AMD demands volume
Tuesday, 9 January 2007, 14:31
R600 is pretty much done. We got confirmation that the chips are just fine and there are no hardware errors or respins necessary.

However, the chip is delayed and might not even make it for the scheduled late February planned launch.

AMD simply won't let ATI release the new chip without being able to ship it in volumes, our sources claim. That is the whole story and end of Q1 is the targeted date now.

It begins to look more like a Cebit or around Cebit launch but we suggest the PR announcement might be even before that date. R600 is a 512Mbit chip at 80 nanometre. That is the whole conspiracy story. ยต
