Trusted reviews did a review of the new X-Fi digital card from Creative Labs. Like Abit they also have a Fatal1ty branded sound card. But it seems that sound cards are gradually going to be submerged by a tsunami of integrated highly performing onboard solutions from Realtek and the likes. While the X-Fi solution are probably much better, there are even fewer people willing to shed more than £150 on a sound card alone. The break out box provided with the high end X-Fi is a refreshing change for the bulkier version in the Audigy range but the software should be improved.
Hardwarezone is only the latest in a long queue of hardware websites to have given an award to the ULi M1695. Anandtech, Tomshardware and the likes have saluted ULi improvement in this segment. Hardwarezone likes it and does expect motherboards based on it to do well. However, execution will prove to be crucial. ULi has quite a few skeptical hearts to win first. It is cheap, performing, offers SLI, is stable and offers some features not available elsewhere - the Triple graphics Interface.
Hardwarefr tests the new Geforce 7800GT which performs like a lil' 7800GTX, when overclocked, but at a much cheaper price, therefore reinforcing that as from the GTX, NVIDIA will go downwards rather than releasing a 7800 GTX ULTRA. There are some rough edges and the cooling system could be much cooler than its elder brother's.
Windowsatoz has an exclusive sneak preview of the Google Talk Beta which will go head to head against the likes of Skype or AIM. The review contains five screenshots which reveals how Google plans to keep the interface of that software as simple as possible.
Tomshardware has a review of Windows Spyware Survival tools. As far as I am concerned Windows Spyware is an oxymoron since Unix is not much affected by this plague. The reviewer checks Spyware Blaster, IE Spyad, Microsoft Antispyware and winsock XP and concludes by putting everything altogether. The good thing is that all these are free and you do have many people ready to help you. µ
