Hammer tested on over 50 operating systems

BeOS and exoticOS

THERE'S A LENGTHY article at Digit Life about AMD's Hammer architecture and buried in the middle are some nuggets about software compilers and operating systems tested with the chip.

The article said that AMD is currently developing several independent compilers for the X86-64 architecture in combination with unnamed third parties.

And, the article continues, AMD has tested the Hammer architecture with "over 50" operating systems.

Those include the various flavours of Linux, as you'd expect, along with the various types of Windows operating environments and operating systems.

But, claims the article, AMD has also tested Hammer chips on OS/2 Warp, BeOS 4.5 and 5.0, and Netware of different varieties.

In addition, AMD tested it on SCO, Solaris and a whole raft of DOSes from Microsoft, DR and IBM.

There's much more in this article, as you can find by reading it here. µ
