SPRINT NEXTEL says its Iphone-alike mobile will be in the shops by June 2008.
The Samsung Instinct will be considerably less pricey than the $399 required for the cheapest Iphone, however no one is saying how much cheaper.
Troubled Sprint, which has been losing punters lately, plans to spend $150 million to advertise the Instinct when it launches.
There are a few touch-screens on the US market at the moment including the LG Voyager, which has an exterior touch screen and folds out to reveal a non-touch screen paired with a keyboard. Sprint also has the Touch by HTC.
The Instinct was partly designed by Sprint based on Java software and will have features that the iPhone lacks such as the ability to use EV-DO Rev A, the fastest cellular broadband technology available on the Sprint and Verizon Wireless networks.
This will make it a lot faster than the Iphone. It will also be smaller and feature a GPS chip. µ
