Blogger faces legal action over defamation, trade secrets

Gutterwatch And why not? It's all pixels anyway

THE WALL STREET Journal reports today that a firm is suing a blogger for allegedly defaming it and filing trade secrets.

The Journal said Aaron Wall's SEO Book faces legal action from Traffic Power after the blog published anonymous comments from readers.

This raises an interesting point. We've noticed a number of US web tech sites are now filing "blogs" which are really news stories. Quite often the blog news stories are better than the "official" stories on the site.

So what's the difference between a "blog news story" and "official" story? We think that some of these publishers should ask themselves that question rather more seriously than they seem to be doing at present. Possibly they're caught up in the "bog craze".

We don't think there's any difference in terms of the law, in whatever jurisdiction.
