HP to take AMD64 route

BLANC AND OTUS is a public relations company acting for HP, and the following letter, related to the link above, does therefore confirm Carly's firm is taking the Athlon 64 route... but not yet.

We wonder if HP was as miffed as a lot of other firms were earlier this year which had Athlon 64 motherboards ready to roll, before AMD pulled the plug. Fujitsu Siemens, for example, was ready to go-go.

Hi Mike

Per the article that appeared on June 18, 2003 on HP's support of AMD's Athlon 64 processor, we would like to clarify some incorrect information that was found on that product specification sheet found on the HP web site. Although HP has publicly stated that we will have a future product featuring the AMD Athlon 64 processor, we do not comment on unreleased products.

The information that was available on the HP web site regarding the HP Pavilion t182k was an outdated planning document for a product released in the Korean market in April. As we plan our product road maps, they often change many times prior to release. The product actually launched with the AMD Athlon XP 2500+ processor and this document was not updated to reflect the change.

As the HP product, which will feature the AMD Athlon 64 processor is not yet available, we cannot confirm any further details about our upcoming offering at this time.

We apologize for any confusion this may have caused and will be sure to keep you in the loop as information on upcoming products becomes available.

Thanks
