We don't know how they escaped from the paranoia net at AMD but that sort of thing happens at even the best regulated companies, you know.
What have we got here then?
Lets start with the workstation and server processor market which you can find here.
This confirms persistent rumours of big caches on AMD's Opterons of up to 1MB using its socket 940, which we've written about before. But while AMD appears to wish to move its Opteron Hammer and Athlon Hammer to silicon on insulator - and don't forget we do have confirmation about the firm that's supplying that SuperSilicon, Barton will debut at 2800+ on 130 nanometers without that SOI benefit.
Those ingenious folk at Xbit Labs have realised that AMD is having to somewhat re-engineer the PR rating on its desktop processor roadmap, again on the Chinese site, and which you can find here. Never forget, by the way, that Barton may not arrive until Q4 but it cannot be late by definition because it isn't really announced.
Intel used this trick with us just a month back to tell us that Itanium could not be delayed until July because it had always said it was going to be released in mid-year.
In fact, Intel has said the Itanium would be released in mid-year not just this year, but last year, and the year before. So AMD can't be blamed for following this cunning marchitectural procedure.
Looks like the 2700+ Athlons for the Thoroughbred desktop we talked about earlier have gone the way of every roadmap though. There's a 2400+ Thoroughbred for Q3 and then Barton arrives in Q4.
You could always say that as the Clawhammer is going to be an Athlon ?!? too, that it makes very little difference anway. We somehow think La Intella isn't seeing things the same way.
Now here's the mysterious roadmap that had us all confuzzled until the confirmation these things were real on Friday. Here.
And here's Xbit Labs cunning interpretation here.
Perhaps it's time to get that Aberdeen Group guy out of his purdah again and see what he has to say about this some months on? µ
