CHIP FIRM Via said a number of motherboard vendors including Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, Abit, Soltek, Albatron and a firm called Shuttle will use its AMD 64 K8T890 chipsets.

Via is also showing off the K8T890 Pro, which includes DualGFX Express, a technology for supporting dual graphics cards.

The K8T890 chipsets use Via Flex Express architecture and can support up to five PCIe devices.

For example, Via explained, you can bung in a PCI Express X16 graphics card and four PCIe X1 connections to dedicated peripherals.

The boards use a south bridge VT8237 companion chip, and will also support USB2.0, 1394, Serial ATA, and Via's "vinyl" soundset. They support Sempr0ns as well as AMD64 chips. µ
