The game, which is the third part of the Halo Xbox trilogy, was pre-ordered by a massive 1.5 million customers ahead of release. At an average selling price of $60, that makes for a tasty $90 million in sales before the doors even open. And 10,000 shops in the US opened at midnight for sales.
Halo 2, the previous Xbox version, made $125 million on the first day, and the Vole says it is expecting that one to fall pretty quickly.
The game is also becoming tha fave Xbox 360 game with reviewers, securing critical acclaim. We'll wait to see what the punters think of it.
Here in the UK, gamers are eagerly rubbing their hands together and waiting - they get the game a full day later than the US - midnight Tuesday rather than midnight Monday. With UK game prices set significantly higher - an average of £45 ($90), that's sure to add a nice little bump to Microsoft's bottom line. µ
