THE PRICES OF desktop CPUs from Intel are slated to drop today, as we reported on the 28th of January last.

That means a fairly biggish price cut on Pentium 4 3.06GHz parts, 2.8GHz P4s, 2.66GHz Pentium 4s, 2.53GHz Pentium 4s, and the 2.4GHz and the 2.2GHz Pentium 4s will turn into has beens.

The next big intro for the Pentium 4 desktop chip is the 3.20GHz part, which is slated to debut at a price of $637.

There are also expected to be price changes on some of Intel's server chips.

No price changes are expected on notebook CPUs, according to roadmaps we saw in mid-January.

It's possible that Intel may have ripped up all its plans and started again.

It always says that's an option for its roadmaps. We'll ask the firm, tomorrow. ยต
