iPod video "a waste of money" - report

Users hardly bother
Tuesday, 21 November 2006, 06:56
RESEARCH OUTFIT Nielsen Media Research says that the video iPod is a waste of cash with few punters using the video functions.

Apple iPod video users apparently listen to music or audio podcasts than they do using it to watch TV or movies.

The study, which monitored a panel of 400 iPod users in the US, found that only one per cent of iPod users and 2.2 per cent of video iPod users watched videos on their gadgets.

Only 15.8 per cent of iPod users have played a video on either iPod or iTunes.

Paul Lindstrom, senior vice president of custom research at Nielsen said that iPod users are apparently only interested in audio.

One has to question why people would buy a device if they do not use they key part of the functionality. Maybe they really are getting the information for their buying decisions from the Apple marketing department subliminal division through their ear pieces.
