SOMETIME maker of games consoles, Microsoft has doubled its order for XBox360 chips.

The Chinese-language Commercial Times says Taiwanese chip makers said that the chips will have to be ready in the second quarter to June.

This looks like Vole will be planning some sort of marketing push to steal a bit more of the market now that the PS3 is not going to be around until November.

Vole uses Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing, United Microelectronics, Advanced Semiconductor Engineering, Silicon Integrated Systems) and Siliconware Precision Industries to make the bits inside the box and apparently they are being run off their feet with the extra work.

* BLOB IBM and Chartered are making the triple core Power PC 970 microprocessors.
