When asked whether consumers in Europe may feel underprivileged due to the continued belated launches of Sony product in their home territories, Jamie had this to say: "European consumers have shown that historically they don't mind that, because they end up buying as many PlayStations, if not more, than the US and Japan. In Europe, it doesn't seem that the release of our platforms after the US and Japan - in the long run - affects how consumers feel." Well that's alright then.
Oddly Mr MacDonald had considerably negative feelings towards the delayed launch of the PS3 in Europe: "I was gutted. Absolutely gutted. Like many people, I was looking forward to having a PlayStation 3 under the Christmas tree. But, you know, that's a privilege that the people in the United States and Japan are going to have. It's just unfortunate we couldn't do that in Europe. So yes, of course I'm disappointed." A somewhat conflicting sentiment to the statement above.
Jamie seems somewhat out-of-touch with his consumer base. The interviewer quoted the much-known fact that an Xbox and Wii together would cost less than a newly purchased PS3: "To be honest, I haven't heard that..."
How about trying simple maths next time. µ
