Intel Prescott overclocks at 6009 MHz

But look at the heat sink

CHIP FIRM Intel's much loved, cool and calm Prescott chip has been overclocked to more than 6009 MHz.

According to a techi forum at xtreme systems, here, a 19 year old Finnish techie, who goes by the handle of Stilt, took his P4 560, 3.60GHz, added much liquid nitrogen into his cooling system and got the Prescott to its blistering speed. A chap called Macci is also behind these cunning engineering moves.

Of course you are not going to be able to run a Prescott at that speed in a box. In fact it is a moot point if you can run one at conventional speeds in a box, and so Stilt has published a picture of his set up here.

You can just make out the Prescott under that six foot chimney stack of a cooling system and the pipes from the Hoover Dam. ยต
