At least one Beatle arrives on Itunes

Imagine there's no DRM, it's easy if you try
Tuesday, 14 August 2007, 19:30
JOHN LENNON has appeared on the Itunes store today, making himself number three of the fab four to arrive on Apple's digital music download service.

After El Jobso thrashed out an agreement with Yoko Ono, sixteen of the legend's albums are available for eager fans to pick up. In keeping with his 'free love' ethos, the music will be available free of DRM, too, under the iTunes Plus label.

"John Lennon is one of the greatest artists of our time," Jobs announced. "We're thrilled to have his solo catalog available on the Itunes Store for the first time." Meanwhile, Yoko announced that "John would have loved the fact that his music will now be available in a format suited to a new generation of listeners."

Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney are already selling post-Beatles work on the Itunes Store, but the real nuggets - the Beatles catalogue itself - will not be available until the end of this year or, at a pinch, the beginning of next. It's being digitally remastered so that it will lose all its soul gain extra clarity.

Imagine all the downloads? It's easy if you try. We're sure Jobs is, right now. µ
