Pleeease buy Vista, begs Microsoft

Everyone's waiting for SP1
Thursday, 21 June 2007, 09:25
THERE ARE SIGNS of desperation at Redmond as Microsoft tries desperately to get punters to buy its latest operating system Vista.

According to APC magazine, the Vole knows that many of its customers are refusing to install Vista until SP1 comes out later in the year. Unfortunately that is screwing with sales targets and could mean that some executive will have to explain the poor showing to Steve Ballmer.

Since many would prefer to have their own ears and entrails removed with a jam spoon than speak to Steve, "project Viagra" has been hatched to stiffen the flaccid pre-SP1 sales figures.

Windows boss Steven Sinofsky launched a "fact rich" programme to help customers understand why they should "proceed with confidence" in rolling out Vista across all their PCs.

The Vole says it is telling the "real story" and its 'fact rich' programme will provide punters with "the truth" which apparently is that Windows Vista is ready and not half-baked at all.

Amusingly, this link to the truth goes to a site which is available only to computer makers who are prepared to sign up to a non-disclosure agreement. In it seems the "truth" that its Vista software is ready, is a company secret. More here. ยต
