Ace's Hardware threatened with closure

Loyal readers pitch in
Wednesday, 27 June 2007, 10:16
LONG LIVED and venerated Ace's Hardware is threatened with closure although members of the forum are doing their best to ensure it stays alive.

Brian Neal, founder of the site, said in a note yesterday that the hosting agreement for the site ends this month and he'll be decommissioning the server at the end of the week.

But that's brought a rush of offers of help from readers, alarmed at losing their daily fix of Groo, Paul DeMone, David Kanter, Dean Kent and the rest.

It would be a pity if Ace's Hardware disappeared, because its general and its technical forums are some of the most thoughtful on the hardware side, with some good contributions from people who know what they're talking about.

It pre-dated the INQ and we remember reading it at the Other Plaice in 1998 or 1999. Someone, we're sure, will save it. ยต
