Cyber crooks use Obama sex tape lure

Scary thing is that it works
Friday, 12 September 2008, 09:46

THE LATEST SPAM EMAIL containing a Trojan virus to hit your inbox claims to contain a video of Barack Obama in a sex video.

These appear all the time but, apparently, the hackers think that people are daft enough to think that such a video will be available and will download a file with a .exe filename extension which comes from someone they don't know.

According to insecurity outfit Sophos, however, people have been falling for the scam in droves.

The flick claims to have footage of Obama doing the nasty while in the Ukraine. The fact that the email is turning up so often means that it has already caught thousands of people.

One would be tempted to suspect that it is all a Republican smear campaign to associate Obama with scandal. However it is more likely that the Russian hackers didn’t think they could get anyone to open a video which claimed to show the Republican candidate John McCain getting it on. µ

Prelude

If people are downloading a would-be Obama sex tape, we're all going to be screwed (pun, yeah!) when the Palin sex-tape virus starts making its rounds.
