Online/offline line coming down the line

INSTACOLL made a bit of a splash late last year when it announced Live Documents, a way to bring web collaborative capabilities to older versions of Microsoft Office.

Now the company is preparing to release a suite based on Adobe’s AIR technology for building online/offline combo apps.

Sumanth Raghavendra, Instacoll CEO, said that the suite will be available in the spring, just as soon as AIR exits beta status.

“This will give our users the flexibility of working on the desktop without requiring Microsoft Office and will be a true hybrid Office suite,” he wrote in an email.

Instacoll was founded by Sabeer Bhatia who had a big payday when Microsoft bought his previous startup, Hotmail. µ
