RUMOURS THAT Biggish Blue is set to lay off 150,000 workers are the biggest set of pants since Victoria Beckham wore these in Rome, claim analysts.

The rumours were started by Robert Cringely on the PBS Web site , who says IBM is planning to lay off 150,000 US workers by the end of this calendar year.

His big idea was that Biggish Blue was going to outsource the lot.

But analyst Bob Djurdjevic, president of Annex Research, says that while Big Blue may be trim 1,000 jobs here and there was no way the company would lay off 150,000 employees. He told Network World that there is no business reason for IBM to do that. The company is doing very nicely thank-you. Besides 150,000 was around IBM's entire US operations

Djurdjevic added that the rumour was hogwash and "whoever is saying that should find themselves another job". µ
