Dell laptop explodes at Japanese conference

INQ reader's amazing snaps
Wednesday, 21 June 2006, 14:22

AN INQUIRER READER attending a conference in Japan was sat just feet away from a laptop computer that suddenly exploded into flames, in what could have been a deadly accident.

Gaston, our astonished reader reports: "The damn thing was on fire and produced several explosions for more than five minutes".

Should you witness such an event, his advice is, "Don't try anything courageous/stupid, stay away, away, away!"

One-dell-of-a-bang

"For the record, this is a Dell machine," notes Gaston. "It is only a matter of time until such an incident breaks out on a plane," he suggests.

Our witness managed to catch all the action in these amazing pictures.

"Fire extinguishers leave a mess on your suit and belongings; pack your stuff (if you can) and leave, leave, leave!" he advises.

We don't have any further details of the model of the computer in question. In light of the evidence, however, we'd suggest you avoid actually using a laptop on your lap. Ouch.

Laptop power supply is somewhat adaptable

At the same time, the power cord also acts as a charger, similar to a cell phone charger - it powers up your a href="http://www.laptop-acadapter.com/dell/" laptop battery /a on an ongoing basis. a href="http://www.laptop-acadapter.com" Laptop /a power supply is somewhat adaptable, therefore, making laptops portable - at least for a few hours at a time, that is. The newer models often have a battery that holds a charge for longer - five to seven hours, in some cases. Adding an additional laptop power supply - an external battery - can increase the time that you can spend away from an electric power source.

Some people recommend removing your laptop battery when you're at home or in the office, so that your laptop power supply source bypasses the a href="http://www.laptop-acadapter.com/hewlett-packard/>" battery /a when possible. However, shopping around to find exactly what you need - especially if your needs are unusual - is also worth your while.

Extra Ordinary Laptop

What a mess... Did Dell Company knows this? where did you get your battery? I think you must go to the dealer and refund your Dell laptop. It's very strange that a laptop will explode in front of many people. That's why you must sure of the battery you buy and have a warranty seal in your laptop. Times like this and you will never know that it will cause fire...
