Silverstone upgrades PSU manufacturing

Computex 007 Made in Taiwan with robots, not in mainland China

THE WORLD OF POWER supplies is quite interesting these days. Most of the western brands either buy or design and then contract to manufacture from companies in China, where all of the power supplies are built by hands on thousands of workers.

Decathlon 1.2kW packs some serious power...

...and its being built by nice robot arms in island named Taiwan

Silverstone decided to turn up a notch and the company recently started manufacturing power supplies in Taiwan, not on mainland China. Also, workers are replaced by robotic arms that are putting the components onto PCB with equal precision as motherboard components are placed onto the blank PCB. First power supply to get Taiwanese treatment was 1.2kW from Decathlon series, but this new factory will produce most of the high-end power supplies. Silverstone reps showed us the difference between Taiwan and mainland China PSU, and there is certain German-precision feel on the Taiwanese one.

However, this is not the only thing these lads are considering. Next step is to get 95%+ efficiency, but in order for that to become a reality, some communication between a motherboard and a PSU will have to be realised. Some core logic inside the PSU, some on the motherboard and a serious redesign of internal wiring... then again, Google already does it. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure what is required. ยต
