PURVEYOR of sit-coms, plucky little Belgium, has been placed up for auction on Ebay.

Apparently, the small country, which is described as being next to the Netherlands and Germany and France, is waiting in Kingston Upon Thames for a local pick-up for a lucky bidder. This would probably explain why it is currently a little difficult to get off the Kingston turnoff on the M25.

Belgium has had a chequered history and had several owners ranging from Italians, French and Nazis.

After escaping from Dutch rule in 1830 it manifested itself on the world stage with the creation of the French Fry. It was also a founding member of the European Union thus managing to create chips and gravy trains within 140 years.

Unfortunately recent history has not been kind to Belgium, its creative output has narrowed to the export of sit-coms and it is starting to look a bit rough around the edges.

This is probably the reason why bidding is currently sitting at only six pounds in loose change with bidding to end soon. We are sure that the nation that inspired the development of secularised economies in the West in Antwerp during the 16th century should fetch a bob or two.

Anyway the link is here if you want a piece of cultural history with a view of ummm... well a view anyway. µ
