Seeks $100 million in damages

TAIWANESE OUTFIT Luxpro is rubbing salt in the wounds of Apple, which failed to win a court case to stop the outfit making an iPod shuffle clone.

Luxpro wants $100 million in damages from Jobs Mob after Apple lost a court battle over a product called the Tangent.

Apple managed to get an injunction blocking the sale of the Tangent which, according to Apple Insider, was nearly identical to Apple's original flash-based player in size, shape, colour and weight.

However Apple lost the appeal after Taiwanese judges decided there were enough differences between the two products for them to be considered 'unique'.

Now Luxpro chairman Wu Fu-Ching is claiming his company is a David to Apple's Goliath. He said that Taiwan has a very sophisticated electronics technology, and he couldn't let a multinational corporation take advantage of its market force to put down Taiwan's industry at its will.

He plans to file a $100 million compensation suit, which seeks damages from Apple's "continued and illegitimate provisional disposition motion" that prevent sale of its products over the last 18 months.

Apple Insider has pictures of the two products side by side here. µ
