DRAM price increases by 10 per cent

AFTER BEING in the doldrums for ages the price of DRAM seems to be finally on the increase.

According to DRAM Exchange analysts, makers have finally successfully raised their contract price between three and five per cent over April and by 10 per cent in May.

The analysts say that the price hikes are due to the upcoming back-to-school shopping season and the fact that manufacturers had been pulling back dramatically on production.

We expect 1Gb contract price to continue rising and some suppliers have been stocking up their inventories which has also caused the market price to rise.

From mid-March to early May, branded DDR2 1Gb 667MHz chip prices rose from US$1.91 to $2.16 and DDR2 667 1Gb eTT rose from US $1.6 to $2.04.

DDR2 eTT and 1Gb prices remain steady at US $0.99 USD for 512Mb and US $2.02 for 1GB. µ
