Futuremark retracts lawsuit threat

Well, that didn't take long

AFTER 20 pages of vitriol from the HardOCP community, Tero Sarkkinen of Futuremark issued an apology last night for threatening to sue HardOCP.

Explaining his actions, he said that: "For years, we have been trying to get constructive cooperation going with the HardOCP team... [but] for one reason or another none of the attempts have succeeded". After another of Kyle Bennett's newsposts stating that 3DMark 05 "sucked", this caused, in Tero's own words, "an immediate, and I have to add, rather immature, reaction".

Tero also added that he loved to receive "any and all feedback" , as long as it was "reasonably argumented".

Which isn't entirely true, from what the INQ understands. Our moles are telling us that there are plenty of people involved in 3DMark's development that aren't at all happy with the way the product turned out. Despite telling Futuremark to take a change of direction with the product and address more of the criticisms of 3DMark 03 head-on, Futuremark have delivered, in their view, more of the same.

So that's the end of that saga then. The Infinium saga continues, and so far it's cost HardOCP a staggering $150,000 in legal costs. µ
