Euro punters get involved in Intel antitrust case

Beuc wants our snorting to be heard
Thu Feb 21 2008, 16:41

A EURO CONSUMER group has asked to be heard by the European Commission in its inquiry into alleged antitrust practices by Chipzilla.

The BEUC issued a statement saying that it’s important punters are heard in the inquiry.

It has put its oar in “as an interested third party” because computers are so important in everyday life.

Monique Goyens at BEUC said “The promotion of consumer choice and of competitive price levels is a fundamental element of the Commission’s case against Intel as of the EU competition policy in general. It is therefore important that the consumer voice is heard in this debate.”

Don’t you just hate that word consumer? Makes us people sound as if all we do is just munch up anything thrown at us, like a bunch of hungry pigs or something.

An Intel rep told the INQ: "It's up to the EC DG-Comp to decide how to handle these requests. We have not talked to these 'puntesr'". µ
