DELL COMPUTER has announced that it will sell PCs in retail stores throughout the People's Republic of China starting in October, reports ChinaTechNews.

Gome, with about 50 metropolitan area stores, has been selected by Dell as its retail outlet in China. Mu Guixian, vice president of Gome said "I am confident that we made [the] right decision to partner with a top-name brand to sustain our growth in China"

Gome will offer Dell's notebooks and desktops such as the XPS M1330, the XPS 720 performance desktop, Inspiron 1420 notebook, Dimension 9200 desktop and Inspiron 530 desktop. Dell employees will be available in Gome stores to help customers select systems.

Dell's partnership with Gome in China is its latest retail distribution agreement following Michael Dell's reversal of its longstanding policy of avoiding retail sales. The company has previously signed deals with Bic Camera in Japan, the UK's Carphone Warehouse and Wal-Mart in the US. Last week Dell opened its first retail store in Russia. ยต
