Guillemot gives up graphics card ghost

'Weak margins' spur move to pastures new

GUILLEMOT CORPORATION said it is sick of the graphics card business and is throwing in the towel.

In a statement, the company complained of "very weak gross margins" in the graphics board and monitor markets, and said it wanted to to something else instead.

It says the success of its Hercules music lines and demand for its Thrustmaster gaming and mobile accessories, led to to a rethink. It announced it, "has decided to focus on these product ranges with high added value".

So Guillemot will "progressively withdraw from the graphics board and monitor markets" and, "mobilize all of its resources towards the development of markets with strong potential".

It adds that its R&D efforts have been concentrated on fiddling with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and will seek to combine wireless connections its Hercules and Thrustmaster products. ยต
