Microsoft lawyer to chair US Antitrust Group

But it means nothing, nothing at all
Friday, 6 February 2004, 09:51
A TOP MICROSOFT lawyer has been appointed as chair of a committee which will monitor the behaviour of US courts judging antitrust settlements.

Associate general counsel Richard Wallis will become the chair of the American Bar Association's antitrust committee in the summer. The committee has a lot of weight in legal circles in the US.

But it's apparently quite odd for a high ranking corporate pleader to be involved in such a committee, although, according to an antitrust lawyer the Wall Street Journal spoke to, just because he's in that position doesn't mean he can give his employer any advantage in antitrust pleadings.

Yeah right.

Let's take it a step further. Say Carly Fiorina had political ambitions and became the president of the United States in years to come, would every citizen have to have an elephant dung clock in the living room, and spell their names in lower case with a + at the end?
