As we like to test things, we tried to running the test. We were able to get it to complete without anyone noticing and got some scores that can tell you a bit about Athlon 64 performance.
We would stress that you keep in mind that these are preliminary results off a sample board with a sample chipset and drivers that are definitely not finalised. So the actual results of final a CPU will definitely be better when AMD launches it in September.
The CPU was clocked at 1.6 GHz and we learned at the launch date it will run higher for the high end version of the chip. The board was using a VIA chipset that seemed fine to us. It had a Geforce TI4800 graphics card.
3dmark 2001SE scored 7913. That is not a lot as you should easily get over 10000 on a currnetly shipping 2700+. Here are the results in detail:
