Xbox Live gamers worried about jobs

FOLLOWING THAT voter registration initiative on the Xbox 360, Rock the Vote has bonded with Game Politics to deliver further statistics about the common Xbox Live gamer and what’s on his/her mind.

You’d expect 'babes', 'guns' and 'unlocks' to be the menu of the day, but in the USA everything has developed a presidential spin. According to the stats, XBL gamers are worried about their jobs and the economy, the environment, healthcare, education and foreign policy… which sounds like pretty serious stuff.

Unfortunately, gamers are notorious liars, especially those that play on-line…

We’d read it this way:

35 per cent of XBL gamers play games all night then get to work late and worry their boss is going to fire them, then they worry the economy is in poor shape and look at the guy sitting in front of the bald eagle blazon and worry they won’t be able to find a new job. No income, no new games and no XBL subscription.

19 per cent worry about the Environment, or in other words, that their Xbox is on 24/7 and the electricity bill at the end of the month will set them back a tidy sum.

18 per cent fret about Foreign Policy because, without good relations with China, you wouldn’t be able to build cheaper Xbox 360s.

14 per cent worry about healthcare, or the absence thereof. If you think sitting in front of a screen in the dark in your mother's basement is somehow good for your health, you should visit a shrink. An absence of a healthcare system will mean the caffeine and Doritos diet you resort to as sustenance will come back to bite you in the nether parts, later in life.

14 per cent worry about education. Again, being late to school or spending the night before your mid-terms playing GoW2 is a no-go. Actually this is the one stat we’d take seriously.

In case you think the Game Politics/Rock the Vote poll hits the mark, we’d recommend you wait a while until the elections are over, redo the poll and only then draw conclusions about it.
