SEARCH OUTFIT Google has teamed up with the web-sniffing posse at www.StopBadware.org to alert users as to when they may be heading towards a dodgy web site.

Google serves up surfers with a warning before they visit websites that have been reported to StopBadware.org as sites that distribute what many call malware and what Google now calls Badware.

The warnings link to a general page on StopBadware.org, but the site says it will soon post information relating to the specific sites in question.

According to spods at stopbadware.org, the move will help guide users away from those site that sneak dodgy pop-ups around your firewall or install spyware or other tracking software on your PC.

If your every move online is checked by a pop-up ad, they warn, it's "highly likely that you, like 59 million Americans, have spyware or other malicious badware on your computer".

Thank the Lord for Google, huh? µ
