Supermicro issues more than a press release

Intel Developer Forum Our favourite company strikes again

THE BOYS AT SUPERMICRO, when not releasing non-existent press releases, came out with a few new toys at IDF. The first was a 4U Tumwater based barebones chassis. This one, called the SC743 was running a SLI'd NVidia Quadro rig at the show, and needless to say, it ran graphics pretty fast.

The next thing they had up was the 6014P-8R, and as you can tell from the name, it is a 1U server chassis for two Noconas. The trick here is that it has either a single full sized PCI-E or PCI-X slot and two cold swap power supplies, or 2 full sized cards and a single power supply. All this in 1U.

It is a standard looking 1U box, but it has the ports in front. If you have ever played the game called run around the row of server racks, you will understand how cool this is. Look for it in the very near future, samples are out now. ยต
