"Defying the laws of physics"

THE ITALIAN BOURSE has joined a number of other stock exchanges that use the Opteron, AMD said today.

Borsa Italiana, the New York Stock Exchange, the London Stock Exchange and the Philadelphia Stock Exchange all use AMD Opterons, in fact rely upon them, claimed AMD.

NYSE Euronext uses Opterons on nearly 500 servers, said AMD. It didn't say how many servers NYSE has, nor how many run using the competitor's technology.

The Italian bourse uses HP Proliant BL Blade System servers which use the Opteron, said AMD.

The Philadelphia Stock Exchange rolled out a rep whose use of hyperbole would make many a spinner shudder.

"AMD is defying the laws of physics, " said Gene Peters, the director of information services there. ยต
