A LAWYER in California is using a website to solicit clients who are interested in suing Apple over its Iphone brickage and other complaints, according to InformationWeek.

He's looking for potential plaintiffs who own an Iphone, who are California residents and who believe they are in any of the following categories:

  • Want to transfer to a wireless carrier other than AT&T.
  • Whose Iphone was disabled, malfunctioned or had a third-party application erased after they downloaded Iphone update 1.1.1.
  • Contacted Apple to repair their Iphone and Apple refused to honor their warranty because they unlocked their Iphone or installed a third-party application.
  • Incurred a cancellation fee from their previous wireless carrier when they transferred to AT&T's wireless service.
  • Incurred roaming charges while traveling abroad with their Iphone.
  • Purchased a third-party warranty for their Iphone at extra cost because of Apple's released statement that it will not honor warranties on unlocked Iphones.

His website implies that he's planning on filing a class action lawsuit against Apple. µ

I've read the book

What he's actually looking for is a way to fleece a few hundred million in fees from a deep pocket whilst paying out a miserable stipend per person "wronged" if he can make it stick in Court.
That way, his philanthropy will enable justice to be served, but moreover will allow him to buy a new Gulfstream , which is what this is all about.
Lawyers. Pah !

Lame, will never stick

I don't have an iPhone, but:

(Complaint #1)
When I went to leave Verizon they stated I couldn't take my phone to T-Mobile. Something about network incompatibility....but who cares, I still want to sue!

(Complaint #4)
Again, no iPhone, but I got charged a cancellation fee too!! Bastards! I want to sue!

(Complaint #5)
And they charged me roaming charges too....and worse, even while I was in the U.S.!!! I only had a regional plan, but I still want to sue!!!

Come to think of it, Verizon also did not provide a harem of women nor shine my shoes weekly. I want to sue!!!

If you really want to better the world, send me your money. I am working on a virus that, when it infects lawyers, causes them to develop a slowly progressive, very painful, anal cancer with horrid flatulence.

I pity the fool.....and this earth.

so lame

I can't believe people would sue over this. It was obviously stated in Apple/ATT disclosures what you can and can't do with the product. If you have to crack/hack something to work differently, then of course its gonna void the warranty or cause the manufacturer not to help you. If you can sue for this, then technically you should be able to sue for crappy service from all the major wireless providers.
