Hardware.fr has a group review that should cater for the rest of us, those who cannot afford those $$$ necessary to buy the latest card. 17 entry level and mid range cards get grilled in a monster review. Use google language to translate. From the X300SE HM to the PCX5750 including chipsets from Intel - both AGP and PCIe models.
Tweaktown overclocks the FX57 using phase change cooling. They achieve 3.54GHz on this $1110 component, a nice 654MHz on the 2.8GHz default speed. At these speeds, stability is paramount and perfomrance does depend on other variables like the graphic card and the memory used. See for yourself. Tweaktown also reviews the Mushkin 1GB Dual Channel PC3200 Redline series. Actually, they are pink rather than red but even then they are great enough to get top marks at TT. Reasonably priced and able to handle high voltages, should be on top of your list. The last review from TT marks the return of ULI, ex ALI, with an underdog chipset, the M1695. Basically, it is a nForce 4 killer without the price but with boosted performance. Anandtech and OCworkbench has already reviewed the chip and are literally floored by its performance. TT also.
Greek website Gognet checks the performance and how to finetune performance using a list of six different Catalyst 5.5 and 5.6 drivers. The benchmark list equally furnished with 3D Mark 01 to 05 and even FEAR - First Encounter Assault Recon. Two main winners, NGO drivers and Driverheavens. Well done guys.
German website TweakPC has photos of various games to come; which might finally give the 7800GTX something to chew. Elder Scrolls IV, Anno 1701, Stalker, UT2007 and Age of Empire III are amongst them. µ
