British website Xtremecomputing.co.uk checks the Thermaltake Tidewater, a VGA cooler thing. It is an all in one liquid cooling module and widely regarded as one of the better coolers for graphic cards out there. As usual, you must be very careful with everything that has to do with water and electricity. The fact that it is preassembled, is silent, has a 100% copper radiator and easy refill method makes it a doddle to work with. Some may dislike its size and noise but overall, its pros outweighs the cons.
Hardware.fr says good morning to eight of the best 19-inch screens available in France. Including brands we don't find in UK like Hyundai, Eizo, La Cie, Viewsonic or Belinea - a shame as they are cheap and perform well for most. A superbly detailed and well illustrated hardware roundup. You can get the English version at Behardware.com
EclipseOC, a newcomer to our column, tested the OCZ gold PC 3200 GX XTC pair of 1GB memory modules - they come with honeycomb like heatspreaders, hence the name XTC. Quite a few closeup photos of the XTC on their website. The parts come with lifetime warranty and are CL2. Some nice solid pair of memory sticks but they are not quite up there with the very best I'm afraid.
ATI is really gearing up this time around with the MS 7194 motherboard also known as the MSI RD 480 Neo2. This socket 939 motherboard comes with an ATI RD480 northbridge and features MSI's patented Core Cell performance enhancing technology. Doesn't come with a feature list as long as a Platinum or Diamond Edition motherboard but it still does the job decently. It is obviously Crossfire Compatible, is equipped with GbE, SATA ports, triple firewire and much more. A very good no-fuss motherboard with no particular problem except that the Asus A9R-MVP is in the same ball park at almost the same price.
PC Modding Malaysia has tested the Coolink U8-120-1600 CPU cooler a few days ago. It is a tower type CPU cooler and is one of the few customisable heat sink fans from ground up. It features anti vibration strips for your own fan installation and though it weighs quite a bit, it has caught PC modding's reviewer's eyes. Overall, a superb cooler. It may not be for everyone though if you have a smaller casing. Eight way heatpipes make sure that your computer will not heat that much. Now PCM says that it would probably be a better choice to have a slightly powerful fan. Good performance though from a new kid on the fan block.
