MORE MEMORY FIRMS have jumped on the phase change random access memory (PRAM) bandwagon.

Nikkei said on Friday that Renesas and Hitachi have made PRAMs aimed at the home market - they use tantalum pentoxide and more store data when the power's off without the memory makers having to do a whole heap of re-tooling.

Renesas and Hitachi will start churning the PRAMs out within the next three years.

The PRAM race is on. Last year we reported Samsung was optimistic about its version of PRAMs, here. ยต
