Eee drives Asus to new heights in India

1,100 per cent growth
Thursday, 24 July 2008, 14:49

ASUSTEK said its Indian operations grew by 1100 per cent in the 2007-08 financial year, according to the IT Examiner.

A spokeman for the Taiwanese outfit, Benson Lin, said it was the firm's wee Eee PC which had laid the foundations for the growth. That and the fact it started from a small bit of business in the first place, we suspect.

“We see a lot of potential for growth in the notebooks market. One out of four computers shipped in India in FY 2007-08 was a notebook," he said.

He claimed the consumer notebook market in the country had grown by 141 per cent while the desktop sector had shrunk by six per cent. µ
